UI design for project browser or launcher tool

I am a strong believer in many different ways to show the same data. I know you are working on a new browser UI, but here is a dream scenario of mine that I would like to share and hopefully it can inspire to some new things.

1. Projects always on display on left side with categories for better organization
2. Custom tabs for different views or libraries, customize for your needs.
3. Minimalistic filters for each part of the UI
4. Show products based on what entities you have selected
5. Horizontal browsing for moving fast between different projects, tasks and workfiles
6. Relevant information for selected entities (with added text field)

* I also suggest to remove the current web launcher and instead enable double click on each work file to open the file.
* Ability to add thumbnails in every step for easier overview
