Automatic thumbnail integration fails with 415 error

When publishing from Maya, the process fails because an automatically generated thumbnail cannot be uploaded. This results in a '415 Client Error: Unsupported Media Type'. As a user, this is a frustrating and unexpected error that I shouldn't have to deal with. The system should handle its own temporary files without causing the entire publish to fail. This prevents me from submitting my work.
