Advanced "Push" feature
There is already a “push to library” feature in the browser, although it would be very useful if it could push to any project
For instance if I find a product I like in a project I can push it into another project.
To go even further it would be nice to be able to “push” or “duplicate” anything, not just products.
Tasks, folders or even projects. Of course there would need to be options to choose what you want to push.. maybe its only the folder structure, maybe it’s the work files
For reference look at the duplicate function in “Clickup”. It let’s you duplicate anything and asks you what it is you want to duplicate and where it should go.
I guess the migrate function in Unreal is also something to look at (although have not used much)
But as a start it would be nice to just have the option to push product anywhere, not just libraries.

For some context, what makes this truly difficult is the coupling of the database and the files on disk. Copy and paste on database level won’t be much of a problem and will most certainly make it to AYON, but copying and pasting fully published product is a completely different ball game, that might be better handled on a studio basis with AYON actions.

Is that’s not what is happening already though with the “push to library” function.
That seems to me to be a fully functional copy paste function.

In my opinion, there are some interesctions.
Let me break down your request based on my understanding. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Project Template (Accesed from AYON Server):
Project Anatomy Template, we already have it.
Project Hierarchy Template (Folders, Tasks) Entity Template
This can be a template for an entire project.
This can be a template for a specific folder e.g. a prop folder should always contain model and lookdev tasks. so when ever selecting prop folder, you get these tasks by default.
Project Duplication (Triggered from AYON Server):
Copy a hierarchy from a project to another (including the products).
Copying hierarchy might be similar to the previous project template.
Copying products between projects which might need some AYON service that can access storage and create/modify files on disk. (Does it sound like what you mean by saying Push to project)
Push to Project (Triggered from Browser tool in AYON Launcher):
When triggered, it creates the same hierarchy in the target project and also pushes the selected product version in browser and push it as first version?

The request is a copy paste feature. You already have the ability to copy and paste products to libraries but I would like to expand that to be able to copy paste anything anywhere (tasks, products, folders).
I used the word “push” since that is something already being used in AYON.
Use case 1:
I find an asset in an old project I would like to use in my new project (but modify a bit).
Copy paste workfile. Done.
Use case 2:
I find a product I like and would like to copy it to my project.
Use case 3:
I see a folder structure I like and would like to copy that (but exclude all files)

But as I said just starting with allowing push to any project would be a huge improvement

@Mustafa Zaky Jafar might be able to help with pushing to a different project as I believe that is handled by the pipeline.
Regarding the duplication of folders and tasks, I think the first step will be the ability to duplicate them within the same project.
The second step would be setting up templates that can be reused as building blocks in projects. It’s actually already on the roadmap →
