Unreal: Cannot create render instance

Creating render instances seems very sensitive. Sometimes I can only create render instance for one shot and when I try to add a second shot I get this

“Warning: Skipping coolestShotEver. It isn't a sub-sequence of the master sequence.”
(even though it is clearly a part of the master sequence)

If I restart Unreal I can add another shot. But only on at a time then I have to restart Unreal again.

Also sometimes I could not add any render instances anymore and had to re-create my master sequence in order to add more renders.

All of this is probably very hard to re-create as it is very random when things work and do not work. But maybe there are ways to simplify things to make it less sensitive? (I made another ticket to be less dependent on master sequence)

Hi, thanks for your feedback, we really appreciate it!

Speaking of multiple shots/ sequences…how do you usually approach creation of those? I mean do you create those on the fly within UE or define those in Ayon frontend first (providing frame range, clip ins and outs values in advance). Did you try using “Build sequence hierarchy” you define it first within Ayon frontend and trigger that Action inside UE for building shot hierarchy and sequencer…you just have to select the context from which you would like to build it (e.g. episode or particular shot). The only drawback using this action is it just works for very first time as initialisation step (not on already existing hierarchy/sequence).

The same hierarchy defined in Ayon frontend before triggering that Action:

Note prefilled values for frame start/end and namely clip ins and outs (these could originate from editorial/ edl for e.g. dozens of shots without manually entering those values.

Let me know whats your exact approach for multi shots so we could investigate more on this issue, thx!
